Hailey’s Quilt and Carpenter’s Star Quilt

As promised earlier in the week, here are the final photos of the quilts I finished during April and May.  Tomorrow is the Cancer Benefit for our Freshman student named Hailey.  We are so excited about the activities planned — dinner, dance, games, raffle, silent auction — you name it, they’re having it!  I am so proud of the way our school district and community have  rallied around this dear child, and I am proud to be a part of the benefit through my donation of this quilt.  I pieced the quilt, and another mom in our district provided the long-arm quilting.  It has a very cute all-over design with loop-de-loops and stars here and there.  It is really fun and whimsical, but unfortunately you can’t see the design unless you are up-close and real!

We are the Lorena Leopards — thus the leopard print to go along with our red and black school colors.

This is my finished baby quilt using the pattern Carpenter’s Star.  I used 1930’s Vintage Prints and all supplies were purchased at the quilt shop in Waxahachie, TX.

A different lady quilted this quilt on her long-arm machine.  My favorite part is the solid ivory part.  She used very small little squiggles all over that part — and when I washed it for the first time it crinkled up and made the cutest little puckers all over the fabric.  I love it!  It is so soft that I even slept with it the first night after I washed it!  She used a different design for each of the borders, and I love how everything turned out.   I wish you could see the greater details, but photos just don’t do it justice.  My next little foster baby will certainly enjoy cuddling with me on this quilt!  But no phone calls yet…..we are lonely around here!

If you have any questions about these quilts, just let me know.  I can give you more details!  Enjoy!

  1. Wow, Dawn! You have been busy. They are both gorgeous and I can’t wait to see the finished carpenter star one at our next club meeting.

  2. Dawn your quilts are just stunning! What a wonderful contribution to the fund raiser! It will surely bring high dollars! Your baby quilt is gorgeous. I too love the puckered effect when a quilt is washed. That stitch she used is called “stipple” and it’s wonderful.
