Don’t we all need a little more simplicity in our lives? I know that I do — and I prefer the simple cards in my Stampin’ Up! business, most of the time, as well. I recently had the chance to do a home workshop for a new demonstrator in my Stamp With Perrywinkle group. She was ready to invite some girlfriends over and introduce them to her new creative outlet! One thing that I always offer to my new team members is to come over and DO the class for them. I provide the materials and show them how the class could look if they were the demonstrator standing there doing the class. I love being a role model and providing this service for them. We talk before the class and choose projects that are appropriate for the audience. Sometimes we have a fabulous opportunity to share Stampin’ Up! with brand new faces that don’t know much about our products. This was the case recently, and it was so fun to demonstrate a few very simple cards. I shared the need to have the “SIP” philosophy in mind. SIP = STAMPS, INK, and PAPER. The rest is just “fluff” — and we can add as much as we want. But you gotta have stamps, ink, and paper to build a foundation and go up from there!
Here are the projects that we decided to showcase at our home workshop. I demonstrated one additional card (which the guests did NOT make) so that I could briefly introduce stamping techniques, our 3 types of stamps, how to best use a punch, adhesive, and general things like that. You might also notice that I used several products that opened the door for me to introduce the Occasions catalog and the Sale-A-Bration catalog. We had a very successful night, and my hostess even has one guest discussing becoming a demonstrator herself………so, I think we did a good job that night! Would you be willing to invite some friends over for something like this? There is NO COST to anyone, and I will tailor my projects to meet the desires of your audience. Contact me today to host a workshop in March and earn Sale-A-Bration rewards before it’s all over!

This is the fourth and final card that we did during our last Saturday Stamp Time featuring the Pink Pirouette Blendabilites. We masked the little “rubber duckies” so that we were only stamping the image, and not the words (since they are on the same stamp). We also used the Soft Sky Blendabilities to color the middle duck.
Notice the Pink Pirouette Baker’s Twine? We simply colored the Whisper White Baker’s Twine with one of our Blendabilites and used it for the sweet little heart button. Just another fun way to use your Blendabilities.
Lastly, I created some shading under the ducks. It is faint, but it creates some depth and dimension. I learned this little tip at Leadership a couple of weeks ago from Diana Gibbs. She showed us how to use the Smoky Slate Blendabilities to create this shadowing. We took the lightest shade, and colored a small “puddle” onto a Clear Mount Block. Then we used the Color Lifter marker to pick up just a small amount of that gray and color with it. VERY similar to what you would do with a Blender Pen, if you are familiar with that. Just ANOTHER cool thing you can do with Blendabilities. They are SO versatile!!! I think I’m dreaming of more new colors for the Blendabilities already!!!
I still have a few cards to share from my last “Saturday Stamp Time” class. This was a fun birthday card we made using the “BIG DAY” stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog. We used our new Pink Pirouette Blendabilites to create the ombre-looking background. To get this look, we used the Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper. This is also a FREE product that you can choose when you order $50 or more during our Sale-A-Bration Sales Period. This white paper features a glossy white pattern that is perfect for coloring using a variety of techniques. So this time, we chose the striped pattern, and colored with the Blendabilites. I used the darkest shade for about 5-6 rows, then switched to the medium shade, and lastly on to the lightest shade.
We also used the Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight Blendabilites to color in the stamped image. Did you know that you can ALSO earn the Blendabilites for FREE during Sale-A-Bration? Yep! You can get one set for free with each $50 you order. I used a few new accessories on this card, also……the button is from the Sweet Dreams button collection, and the Bermuda Bay sequin trim is definitely one of my favorite new accessories in the Occasions catalog. It adds such a fun, festive touch!
I have another SATURDAY STAMP TIME coming up on February 28th. I would LOVE to have you join us. We have a great time stampin’ on Saturday morning from 10-12, and you get LOTS of new Stampin’ Up! products. The next class will feature Birthday cards and our Birthday Bash Designer Series paper. You’ll get a sampling of many new accessories, also! RSVP by clicking on MY EVENTS at the top of this page.
There is a beautiful new stamp set in the Occasions catalog, designed for Easter, called Indescribable Gift. It’s “another flower set” that you may think you don’t need. But wait, you do need it! Look at this gorgeous card! We made this at my Saturday Stamp Time last week. We used the new Pink Pirouette Blendabilities to color the flowers and to add color to the Taffeta Ribbon, as well.
The Something Borrowed Embellishments really added an elegant touch to this birthday card. And by the way, these words are from the Butterfly Basics Stamp set, but there are beautiful words that come with the stamp set. You’ll see me using them in the future for some Easter cards.
To get the beautiful sparkling effect, I embossed the entire Whisper White cardstock with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. First, color as desired. Then apply VersaMark ink all over the cardstock. Sprinkle the entire piece with Iridescent Ice EP, and heat it up with your heat tool. This little extra step turns your card into a MASTERPIECE! I think it makes the card so incredibly gorgeous, and in real life, it is just stunning. I can’t wait to create more sparkly cards!
Here are some of the supplies used.
Item 138575, $15.95
Stampin’ Up! introduced a new Photopolymer Stamp Set yesterday that I can’t wait to show you! It’s called Lovely Amazing You. What a sweet name! I am showing you some samples that our concept artists have created so you can see how amazing it really is!
I love seeing new images, and swirly-curly letters like these. I think my favorite is “you make my heart happy”. I really think the most popular one will be the CHOCOLATE one……but if you know me well, you know that I don’t like chocolate too much. I know, I know……you can’t understand that! Hope you enjoy these samples and will consider heading to MY STORE to purchase your set! (Item 140594, $14.95)
Isn’t this gorgeous? I love the “romantic” look of this card! So pretty……it could be for a shower, a wedding, a girlfriend’s birthday, or even a Sympathy card. Don’t you think?
This is one of the cards we will make at Saturday Stamp Time! Attendees will receive half a package of this DSP, Something Borrowed, and Pink Pirouette Blendabilities — as well as many other goodies! I used the Blendabilities to color a few of the smallest flowers on this paper. Voila! It takes on a whole new look when you add some “pop” of color to it. The pretty Sahara Sand button is from the Sweet Dreams package of buttons. Yes, I took a button from the “baby” collection and it was the perfect touch for this card. I added a pearl in the center and colored the pearl with Pink Pirouette Blendabilities.
We have Saturday Stamp Time at my house about every 3 weeks. Please watch my blog and my website for future dates. Your class fee pays for several products from the Stampin’ Up! catalogs, and you learn new ways to use the products you receive. You can also purchase kits if you can’t attend. Contact me if you have any questions!
TIP: Use a VERY light touch when coloring on the paper to prevent a lot of bleeding. The Alcohol Markers quickly absorb into the fibers of the DSP, and If you look really close you will see that it looks as if I colored out of the lines. I really didn’t, they just bleed very quickly!
The Butterfly Thinlets are sold for $24.95. Three sizes you will love! The outline (smallest) shape coordinates with the Butterfly Basics stamp set.
