“Scentsational Season” Gingerbread Man Gift Card Holder

Here’s a little follow-up post from my last one.  This is the same gift card holder, just a different image and color scheme.  I made a gingerbread “girl” by adding a bow with our Baker’s Twine.  Are you surprised?  Have a great week!  I have an extra special blessing this week — Allyson and Lindsey will be coming home from college!

Christmas Gift Card Holder

Today’s project was first shared with me by one of my downline at our meeting in October.  I’m so thankful that Shannon shared this great idea with me — and I adapted it for our December Club.  I gave my ladies two choices — this one made with the Bold Snowflake image — and another one made with the Gingerbread Man.  I’ll show you that one tomorrow….

In case you forgot, Stampin’ Up! has some awesome SINGLE images that they are now selling.  This Bold Snowflake is one of those images.  It coordinates with our Blossom Punch — transforming a flower into a snowflake.  How clever is that? Thanks so much, Stampin’ Up!  More uses for my punches!

snowflake 1

The outside was created with Crumb Cake cardstock.  Start with a piece that is 3 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ and Score that piece at 3 1/2″ and 7″.  You will have a small 1/2″ piece at one end.  Add sticky strip to that end to hold this piece together.  However, you’ll want to make sure you punch out your snowflake shape BEFORE adhering it!   Add a piece of  ribbon and a Designer Ribbon Slide to the front for a festive look.

snowflake 2

The inside piece will be slightly different.  Start with a piece of cardstock that is 3 1/4″ x 10″.  Score that piece at 4″ and 8″.  You will have a smaller 2″ piece left at one end.  Fold that piece up to for a pocket for your gift card.  I’ve stuck a business card in mine for the photo purposes only.

You will stamp and punch your shape to put on the front of the gift card holder.  Make sure you slide this part into the Crumb Cake outer part in order to line up the snowflake just right.  You can’t tell exactly where to place the punched image if you don’t assemble it first.  Hope that makes sense, as I didn’t take a photo of that step.

Don’t forget that Stampin’ Up! offers several new Single Image Stamps.  Some of our single stamps allow you to purchase favorite images at a more affordable price — and save your money for more paper, ribbon, adhesive…….and more!

Christmas Card(s) #4

This is first of a set of gift enclosure cards that I made for a friend.  These 3×3 cards were so fun to make.  Their tiny little size makes them come together in a flash, and they make such a sweet little gift set.  These little cards come from one of the sheets of Designer Series Paper in the Snow Festival Paper Pack.  Instead of having one single pattern design, this one piece of paper has 16 different squares that are printed with tags like the ones above.  So, you would have 32 tags plus all the extra DSP for other projects!  I used Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler for my cards shown here, but other options that coordinate with these patterned papers are  Primrose Petals, Baja Breeze, and Soft Suede.

For this first card, I added a stamped image from a retired set called Christmas Punch and Seam Binding at the top.

The bird card required very little, but I added a couple of rhinestones and a punched heart from the Owl Punch.  I added Crystal Effects and mounted it with a glue dot.

The ornaments above sparkle and shine with a few rhinestones.

My little hedgehog friend needed a Gumball Green bow to top of his card front!

And the mittens looked a little more “homespun” with some Baker’s Twine added.

This last card needed a little something and I decided on a thin piece of cardstock for a “To/From” tag on the front with a small button added above that.  I hope you have enjoyed this cute little idea…….and I’ll be showing the rest of them over the next week or two!  I love this idea!

If you want to order the Snow Festival Paper, here is what it looks like…

I’m sorry that the photo doesn’t show all the tags, but it’s the second sheet from the right that makes up the tags.  Item #126908 for $10.95.  The main reason I bought this paper was for the owls, not the tags.  But now I’m sold on the tags! 🙂

Christmas Card #3

Christmas Card #3 was inspired by a card found on THIS blog.  I haven’t been to this blog before, but she has some nice projects that I enjoyed looking at.   I love finding things I like online and casing them.  I’ve decided I’m pretty decent at executing projects……I find what I like and make it work for me!  This card uses some ribbon scraps to make a fun little Christmas tree.

What a nice way to use up some ribbon scraps!  I cut out the tree and star using the Holiday Framelits.  You can use this ideas with LOTS of different punches.  Give it a try!

The background paper is a new-to-me product.  The paper is embossed (hard to tell in this photo) and comes with many different patterns in the package, but all are Crumb Cake in color.  These papers can be inked up with a brayer, sponged, etc. for a totally different look.  It is called Natural Composition Specialty Paper (Item 126917, $12.95)

Sometimes you might need a small little rectangle for a tag.  Sometimes it gets tricky trying to cut a tiny little tag with your paper cutter if you don’t have a punch that works.  Well, I want to share a little tip with you.  Here’s what I did on this card.  I stamped the “merry Christmas” greeting close to the edge (try to line it up straight) and then used my square punch.

Here’s a photo showing you how I slid in the paper just a little ways.  Line it up straight and punch!  This works wonders with small little words.  Another little trick……give this one a try!

Christmas Card #2

Here’s another quick and easy card!  I love the home-spun feel of our new felt tags.  These can be found in the Holiday Catalog (p.12) with 8 felt pieces in a package for $4.95.  You can tie these directly onto a package, or gift bag.   I used a few Glue Dots to add them to this card — and voila!  A beautiful card all ready to go!

I used the Bird Builder Punch to add green leaves in our newest shade of green — Gumball Green.  I wasn’t too sure about this green at first, but I am sold on it now!  I have used and used and used it…I like the bright, crisp color.  And I KNOW it will transition into spring and summer quite nicely 🙂

I also embossed the background of this card after I stamped the greeting.  If you wanted to make it a little simpler, just leave the card plain and simple with no embossing.   I hope you have enjoyed another idea for your holiday season!
