The structure of my days….

Good morning to all!  I must start by saying that the current structure of my days is driving me nuts!  I am a routine, structured, boring kind of gal, I suppose!  Well, my life is anything but boring, but I do prefer to have my days relatively in order and I am a big fan of routine.  However, summer days do not promote routine, and having a the kids around creates even less routine.  So, bear with me.  I will get back to regular posting in August (after August 9th to be exact) and I will feel a little more in control of the blog and my Stampin’ Up! business.  I used to “work” the business a lot less in the summer.  I virtually took off the summer months.  However, I just didn’t want to do that this year and I have some great ideas for the next couple of weeks, but I am dreadfully scared that I won’t be able to pull them all off!  So, bear with me and go with the flow……….your faithful, regular, and dependable demo will be back to normal then………..well, is “normal” a term I really want to use?  You know what I mean! 🙂  PLEASE know that I love these days with my girls, and all the fun things we are able to do.   I treasure these days because all too soon the older girls will be gone from the home……..it is creeping up on me and I dread it!!!  I love having them around, I just realize that I can’t be all things to all people  — can’t be great in all things.  Right now, my Stampin’ Up! business is sinking to the bottom of the list…..

At any rate, I posted a few things late last night.  Make sure you sign up for my class (the TOP post as you log on to the blog)……..next Tuesday, all new stuff, you will really like this one!  I have some creative card layouts that I have seen on other sites.  I am creating fresh cards using those ideas as “maps” for the cards.  I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Here is a cute idea for some $1 notepads that I got a Michael’s.  I purchased these a long time ago, but this style is one that seems to appear at Michael’s over and over again.  I hope you will see how much you can personalize a store bought item and make it YOURS!

That’s all I have time for this morning……..I am off to a WIC appointment (for the foster baby) and a few other errands.  Lindsey is leaving to go to my mom’s for a few days and I better make sure she is ready, too!  And I think I better find time to shower……….yikes!

Have a great day!!!!  Dawn

What a great class!

WHEW!  We had a very fun group of ladies for the Tart and Tangy class, but I must confess that I am exhausted and ready for a calmer sort of day today!  Everyone agreed that this class goes down as an all-time favorite!   These three little notepads were the door prizes at the class — congratulations to Deeleane, Donna, and Linda for winning them!  These were purchased at Michael’s from the “dollar deals” and embellished with Designer Series Papers and a stamped image.  Recipe details are at the end of this post.

My next class is the Mother’s Day Topiary Class — previously posted on April 8th.   I have room for 15 ladies, and space is beginning to fill up.  Please RSVP if you plan to attend.  This is a really nice gift item and is very unique!

I will give details next week, but the NAME FRAMES class is coming back (due to popular demand!)  Mark your calendar for Monday, May 12th at 6:30 p.m.  Photos coming soon.  Price will be $15.   I will also be doing a card class in May — unsure of the date just yet.

One more precious little photo that I wanted to show you guys……..this is Malachi on “Smiley the Snail”.  My dad made this “rocking horse” when my girls were little.  It is solid wood and made with the most excellent craftmanship ever!  I wish you could see the whole thing, but I had to post the photo with the cutest smile ever!  I have enjoyed sharing it with the foster babies……….so Dad, hope you are reading my blog!  Malachi loves your snail!

Supplies used for the notepads:  Lovely Labels (page 152, $12.95); Cardstock:  Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Purely Pomegranate, Apricot Appeal;  Ink:  Groovy Guava, Tempting Turqoise, Regal Rose(stamped off once); Punches:  1 1/4″, 1 3/8″ circles and Scallop Circle; Ribbons:  Double Stitched Ribbon in Groovy Guava and Wild Wasabi, Grosgrain Tempting Turquoise;  Designer Series Paper East Coast Prep (pad #3) and the other 2 are retired but they were called Petals and Paisleys and Darling Doodles.

Have a great weekend!!!  It’s Friday!!!!

5x7notepad1.jpg

Just a quick good morning today!  I am headed out of town briefly to see Allyson’s Drum Line competition and then back late tonight because we have yet another track meet on Saturday morning!  Can you tell how excited I am about that?  Sorry, I am just not in to track 🙂  However, this is the LAST sporting event of any kind for the school year!  Kinda sad for me to realize that another school year has come and gone (nearly).  The seniors at the high school keep track of days……….I think we have 36 days til graduation, or something like that.  Summer will be here soon!

We had a fabulous class last night and I have 2 kits left if anyone wants them.  I have ordered all the supplies for the Tart and Tangy Class, and have already received several sign-ups.  Let me know if you can make that class.

The notepad shown today is a 5×7 notepad from the office store.  It was very quickly embellished with my little ladybug friend from the Garden Whimsy stamp set and some Designer Series Paper.  I think you have figured out that I really love patterned paper!  I made a dozen of these for my workers at church on Weds. night.  They are a fabulous group of teachers that help me every week teaching girls grades 1-6 about missions.  Thanks ladies!  This was a super quick and inexpensive “thank you”.  Do you have someone that needs to know how much you appreciate them???  Maybe you should do a little something for them……….it would make their day!  Pick someone right now and decide to do it………my challenge to you today!

Have a great weekend!  You probably won’t hear from me ’til Monday………

Love, Dawn

Another notepad!

Garden Whimsy Notepad and Pen Set

Isn’t this cute?  I turned another little scrap of Summer Picnic Paper into a cute little notepad and pen set.  I love the little phrase about friends…….isn’t it so true?  Your best friends can read you like a book!  They know when something is wrong before you even tell them……they read between the lines…………they come to your aid before you ever ask!  Do you have friends like that?  I do, and I am so grateful!!!

I have my Badge Book and Cards class tonight, so I am trying to get the finishing touches on everything today.  Have a super day, and if you have not signed up for the class, I have some openings.  If you can’t come, I will probably have a few kits left over.  Have a super day!

Supplies:  Garden Whimsy Stamp Set;  Cardstock:  Whisper White, Old Olive, Real Red, Bashful Blue;  Punches:  Scallop Circle, 1 1/4″ Circle, 1 3/8″ Circle; Accessories:  Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, 2-Way Glue Pen, Grosgrain Ribbons, and a Real Red Marker (the dots around the circle)  The pen is by Pentel – RSVP Pen.  You unscrew the black cap at the end and place a small strip of rolled up paper into the pen.  VOILA!  A matching pen for your pad!

Love, Dawn

Wednesday Wildness!

I don’t know about your place….but Wednesdays seem to get a little wild!  We just seem to be a little more hurried and starting to think about the weekend, but we’re only half way through the week!  Tonight at church we have a Missions Emphasis with our children that I have done alot of work on, so I am excited to see how the evening goes and if my “plans” pan out OK!   I am subbing this week in the High School Ag Dept.  Those of you that know me as the “city girl” from Dallas can get a good laugh at that one!   It is actually pretty calm back in the Ag shop so I am getting some scrapbooking done and getting paid to do it!  🙂   We watched videos on how to classify plants,  how to safely use LARGE metal power tools, and something else that I can’t even remember — shows you how interesting it was to me.  Hope it gets more exciting today!

Mark you calendar for these future stamp class dates:  April 3, April 17, April 29   All classes will be at 6:30 at my house.   Photos and details to follow by the end of the week, so keep checking back with me!

tart-and-tangy-journal.jpg

I found a few minutes tonight to hide in my little stamp room and make this little notepad.  It was so quick and easy.  No more than 5 minutes from start to finish.  This is a miniature composition book, probably picked it up at a dollar store.   I cut 2 rectangles for the front and back, rounded the corners, and glued it on with a glue stick!  The stamped image is from Tart and Tangy and the paper is our new Designer Series Paper called summer picnic.  They go together nicely, but not ALL the images on the papers are fruits.  Just FYI.  Be watching for the class using this paper and this set on Thursday, April 17th.   It is going to be one of your favorites!  Oh, did you notice the shiny finish on the cherries???  I put a little bit of Crystal Effects on them……..nice touch to an already adorable journal!

Thanks for all of your sweet comments about the blog.  I am working to learn more and more about how to do all of this!   Dawn
