Halloween Happiness

Have you tried any of our single stamp images?  Perfect for a tight budget, a little something for the holidays, or an affordable gift for a friend.  I purchased this one and only Halloween image when the Holiday catalog was first released.  I was excited to see several ideas on Pinterest and adapted this card from one of those.  I have some of my club members who I felt would not want the Halloween words, so I made two options for this card.  And the Envelope Liners were also a big hit at my club class.

First, the Halloween version using traditional colors of Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black along with Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Early Espresso markers, and the awesome Chevron Ribbon.

For a little more dimension, i stamped the jack-o-lantern a second time, cut it out, and popped it up using Dimensionals.  Notice the Old Olive envelope liner shown below.  You’ll really like all 3 sizes!  This is the largest one, and it fits a standard size card envelope.

For the more “fall” themed pumpkins, I dug out some Retired Buttons in Tangarine Tango and hid the jack-o-lantern’s face.  And omitting the words at the bottom created a “fall” card sure to please everyone.  The DSP is from “Polka Dot Parade”.   The card base is also Tangarine Tango to match the button, along with using the Tangarine Tango marker (instead of Pumpkin Pie).  I guess you could say I’m a stickler for things matching up just right 🙂

Notice the many layers on the card, as shown above.  The top layer was a rectangle that I but, the second layer is one of the tag Framelits from the Chalk Talk Collection.  Quick and easy way to layer.

Perfect Paper Bows

I stumbled up on the most adorable (and EASY) way to make a perfect paper bow!  I just knew my Club Ladies would like this idea, and sure enough, they loved it!  Tonight was our last formal club gathering until the end of summer, but we will start up again in late August.  If you would like to join us in August, please let me know.

You can find the “perfect paper bow” instructions from Elizabeth Price’s blog, Seeing Ink Spots.  She is in the upline (or sideline) of my fellow demonstrators in Florida, and I have always loved her work.  This may be something that you’ve seen in a lot of different places, but its a first for me.  I’m hoping you will give this technique a try and be inspired like me!

The Designer Paper that I used is a retired product, sorry!  The focal image is from Sketched Birthday — and I was reminded how thankful I am for Stampin’ Up!’s generosity.  We received this stamp at Leadership this past January, and I had forgotten that it was going to be in the new catalog.  This is my first time to use it, but I think it added the perfect touch to the card.

hearts 1 hearts 2

I’m not sure why my blog was deciding to be difficult today.  It kept flipping this photo sideways!  I decided to show this to you because my friend Jen did this one in her classes yesterday with a few minor changes.  Her ladies loved the “XOXOXO version” and she sent this idea to me.  Your embellishments provided will be like those shown above, but you can cerainly adjust your letters to your liking.  How wonderful that we can each be creative in our own way?  I love it!

So here are the details……..please don’t forget to RSVP by next Friday so I can get all the supplies ready for you on Saturday!

“Two by Two” Baby Girl Card

One of my dear friends just had a baby girl!  After THREE boys, she finally received the “sugar and spice” in her house!  This will be one special little girl — loved and protected by many — and spoiled rotten!  I couldn’t wait to sit down last week and make her a sweet little girl card.  The ingredients had to include lace, pearls, buttons, and bows — and the colors had to be pink and gray to go with the nursery.  I used the single image stamp TWO BY TWO and colored all of the animals in pinks and gray with a Blender Pen.  I used Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink and Pink Pirouette for the coloring, along with Basic Gray.

I found flowery little pink buttons and popped a pearl into the center……..so sweet and dainty!  I ruffled the lace ribbon along the bottom edge, and paper pierced the edges of the die cut shape.  The gray 1″ circles framed it out nicely, and added some interest.  I lightly sponged the edges with Basic Gray, also.

You might notice a few holes in the gray ribbon — I decided to pull the white stitching out and just use the gray part for this card.  I didn’t like the bright white next to the Vanilla Lace.  The DSP is from the Floral District collection and I matted it with Pink Pirouette and Melon Mambo.

Grateful for so many things…

During this week of Thanksgiving, I am especially mindful of life’s many blessings.  That doesn’t mean that my life is perfect, and that I have no trials.  In face, this year has brought some of the biggest trials I have personally ever experienced.  Thanksgiving in my heart means that I will be thankful in ALL circumstances and grateful for many blessings, even when my circumstances are not ideal.  I know too many people who are not content.  There is a huge difference in contentment and happiness.  I pray that God will allow me to have contentment and peace in my heart, even when I might not be happy with something going on in my life.  I have reflected so many times this week on the joy that I have in my life and the many reasons that I have to be grateful.  God has blessed me so much and shown his provision for my family in so many ways.  We spent our first Thanksgiving without my brother, and my Mom came here for part of the week.  It will continue to be a tough holiday season for her, and I know so many special people who have lost loved ones this year.  May God give you contentment and remind you of the many blessings in life and cause you to be GRATEFUL.

To make this card, I used the Button Buddies stamp set.  The words are retired (sorry) but I believe they came from a set of words called Grateful Greetings.   I folded my card (4 1/4″ x 11″) in half and then cut of 1 1/2″ from the front panel.  This reveals the back part where the words are stamped.  I also rounded the corners.  All of the circles are punched with amazing Stampin’ Up! punches and my card came together so quickly.  The inside panel is 3 3/4″ square.  Colors used :  Lucky Limeade, Early Espresso, Tangerine Tango, & Whisper White.   Some of my club ladies used Pumpkin Pie cardstock/markers to match their buttons.  I had a variety of “orange” buttons for them to use.

On a personal note, I will be adding a couple of other posts today or tomorrow with family photos and game photos.  Our amazing High School team, who was picked to be FIFTH in our district this year, is now STILL in the playoffs.  We won again last night and advance to be the AREA 3A CHAMPS!  Really fun and really really happy that all five of us were able to be at the game in Bryan last night.  We will travel on to the Houston area this Friday night for our next game.  The team we play is undefeated, but our team is up for the match!

I have been blessed to have Allyson home from Abilene and Lindsey home from Samford in Alabama since Tuesday night and I have been one happy momma!  We took lots of photos this week and had so much fun all being together.  Today is our last day before they return to college, so we are making the most of it.  We are visiting Emmy and Kimi (former foster babies) and shopping…….and eating……..and taking Christmas Card photos……busy day!

I’m GRATEFUL for many of you in my life who faithfully read my blog and attend my classes.  I hope you have had a blessed week!

Thinking of fall…

Maybe if I think about Fall long enough, the cool air will arrive a little sooner!  Doubtful, but a girl can always hope, right?

I cased part of this card from an online sample.  I really liked the fall colors and the Core’dinations paper for the woodgrain, tree-trunk look.  The leaves are from the Falling Leaves stamp set and I stamped them using Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, and More Mustard.  Then the outline was stamped in Early Espresso.  I cut them out and sponged the edges before applying them to the card with Dimensionals.  Don’t you love the new wooden buttons?  This was the perfect touch for the natural look on this card.

The tiny little verse comes from Petite Pairs.  This stamp set has so many sweet little phrases for various occasions and holidays.  I have really used them alot.   I seem to always be looking for something small to fit in a punch or a tiny area of my card.  I guess I get carried away stamp too much — not leaving much room for my sentiment!

Daydream Medallions Flower Card and last chance to purchase JULY BUNDLES!

Just a quick reminder that TODAY is my “Reason to Smile” Stamp Class.  If you would like to come to either session (2-4 or 6:30-8:30), please message me or call me.  I have openings, and would love to see you.  Scroll on down for all the details — this is a FREE class if you place a $25 order.

Today’s card is another sample that I made for the Convention Display Boards.  It was one of my personal favorites.  I used the Daydream Medallions set (page 117, $26.95) to form a flower, and added a little stem and leaf with Wild Wasabi Stitched Ribbon.  You will need to use several Big Shot elements to create this card.  In addition to cutting out all the flower shapes with the Floral Frames Framelits dies (pg. 191, $26.95), I used one of the new Embossing Folders and Edgelits along the right side of the card.  I truly believe that the Embossing Folders might be my all-time favorite accessory.  Well, at least in the top 3 — along with DSP and Ribbon — of course!   I rarely create a card these days without an Embossing Folder jumping in the mix!  This folder is one of TWO designs packaged together as the Delicate Designs Folders ($8.95). The Large Scallop Edgelits pairs up nicely for the perfect cutting edge ($7.95).  If you are interested in purchasing any of these items, please let me know.

REMINDER:  Today is the LAST CHANCE to get the REASON TO SMILE stamp set.  It will not be available in any of our catalogs.  You can earn this 7 piece stamp set for FREE by purchasing one of my JULY BUNDLES and you will receive even more freebies.  CHECK OUT THE BUNDLES one last time and let me know if you are interested.  You will need to email me or call me with your order by 9 tonight.  You can not place an order online and receive the extra goodies from me.
