Inkin’ up the In Colors…

If you haven’t seen the new In Color Collection for 2014-2016, you will want to take a look!  I took advantage of the little one’s naptime today, and stamped these cards to help show-off the 5 newest colors:  Tangelo Twist, Lost Lagoon, Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, and Mossy Meadow.

Flowers with Stretch Ruffle Trim

Special note:  This is my 995th post!  On my 1000th post, there will be a drawing for some special items made by ME!  Please leave me a comment to register for the drawing, and let me know what you’d like to WIN!  I will post a photo of some items I’m giving away, but also want to “customize” the gift depending on what you say in your comment — if you are the winner!  Thanks!

The feminine side of me really likes the new Stretch Ruffle Trim — the sweet, soft ruffle, and the pretty new In Colors make it one of my favorite new accessories.  However, I have discovered that it is not really meant for tying a “traditional” bow, and I’ve wanted to use it in other ways.  More like an embellishment, or an accessory.   This is a card we created at our Club Class for August, but the original idea came from my friend Dee.  I liked it so much — and she agreed to let me case it for our class.  I’ve seen several similar versions on Pinterest, as well.  So, thanks to all who created this idea for me!

card 1d

To create a flower like this, you will need to get your supplies ready first.  Cut out a circle of cardstock about the size of a dime and cover it with sticky strip.  Or, if you are lucky and still have some of the giant sheets of adhesive that we used to sell, then cut out a circle from that.  I had everything ready for class before I realized that fantastic paper isn’t in the catalog any more!  Peel off the backing of the sticky strip, and have it ready so that once you roll up your flower you can immediately press it onto the sticky surface.  Trust me, you need to be ready!

card 1c

You will begin to roll up the flower in between your fingers and keep going.  Keep it really tight and wrap it around in a circle until you get the base of the flower about the size of a dime (your circle that is waiting).  Press it down firmly onto your sticky strip.  On the front side of the flower, go ahead and “open up” the flower a little by pressing the ruffled trip out and fanning the center out.  It will now be about the size of a quarter, give or take.   The Pansy Punch is used for the two layers of Vellum that you see on this card, and the leaf is actually the wing of the Two Step Bird Punch using Always Artichoke Cardstock.

card 1b

This second card uses the Crisp Canteloupe Ruffled Trim — I can’t decide which I like better!  They are both so pretty!

Gatefold Card

I was recently inspired when I happened upon a Gatefold Card at THIS BLOG when I was looking for creative inspiration.  I found a new fold that I had not seen before and I was excited to share it with my club ladies last week.  I hope that you will visit LeeAnn’s blog for the full tutorial, but it is WAY easier than it looks.  I’m thrilled to share with you my version, and hope that it inspires you, too!

This sample is made with the In Color DSP Collection and this color is Island Indigo.  I love the tone-on-tone effect that you see with our In Color Collection, but I think this folded technique would also look great with our other collections.  Isn’t it neat how BOTH sides of the paper are proudly displayed on this card?

The card is held together with a belly band.  I used Whisper White Cardstock measuring 1″ x 9″.  I added some of our Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon to the center of the cardstock strip and then  I overlapped it in the front with sticky strip to hold it secure.  Place your stamped focal image on top of the seam where you joined the strip together and you have a very polished and finished look.

You can see the folds a little better on the photo below.  You start with DSP measuring 5 1/2″ x 12″ and score it at 2″, 4″, 8″, and 10″.  On the right and left edges you will make a small pencil mark that is 2 3/4″ down (or up — it’s the half-way mark!).  Then you will cut off the corner triangles by cutting from the small pencil mark to the 4″ score and then on the other side the pencil mark to the 8″ score.  If you go to the blog link above, you will see an actual photo of how the triangles are cut off.  Sorry I didn’t take one in the process…but you can faintly see my pencil marks on the right and left of the photo below.

So here is the card completely unfolded and you can get a better visual of the triangle pieces that were removed on the top right and top left corners.

I hope you can take this “fancy fold” idea and create your own version.  I love finding new ways to use our Designer Series Papers.  And this is my most favorite finding in recent days!

Ribbon Shares

We all know how much I love ribbon!  Yes, I have already ordered ALL the new ribbon and it will be here tomorrow!  I can’t imagine making a card without a little bit (or a bunch) of ribbon.  That would be unheard of!  So……maybe you like the ribbon as much as I do, and you’d like a little sample of it, too.  I realize that it is too expensive for most of you to purchase it all at once, so Ribbon Shares give you the chance to get 2 yards of each color for a fraction of the cost.  You must place your order with me, allow me time to order the ribbon from Stampin’ Up!, and package it up for you.  It will take about 2 weeks.  I am happy to mail it to you in a padded envelope for an additional $2, but local pick-up is always fine.

NEW 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon

You will receive 2 yards each of:

  • Gumball Green

Because my order has not arrived yet, I can’t show you photos of all colors, but you can see them on my website and in the new catalog.  The new catalog is available online, or FREE from me.  Let me know if you would like a new catalog.  I will make sure you have one for FREE.  No catches, no gimics, it is FREE.

A calorie-free cupcake!

If you missed my last post, please CLICK HERE for more information about my next class.  I’d love to see you Friday afternoon, or Friday evening, as we stamp some Valentine’s Day (or LOVE) projects for all the special friends in your life!

Yesterday afternoon, I had a fun group of ladies over for a card-making class.  Here’s one of the cards we made.  The ladies loved it!  We shared some great conversations and recipes along the way…….ate alot of yummy snacks, and they ordered some of their favorite new products.  They were super excited about Sale-A-Bration and the free goodies they got to order.

This card uses the Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper for a fresh new color scheme.  The colors you see are Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla.   Most of those colors are in the newest In Color Collection.  Funny how I thought I wouldn’t be “sold” on the new colors……….yeah, right!  I love them……..and use them in almost all my projects.  I do believe Pool Party is my favorite!

I never get tired of punches, and the cupcake punch really makes it even more fun!  And who can resist a little sparkle on top?!?!

Have a super duper day and let me know if you have any questions about this card!
