Cards from my friends…

I have worked so hard this weekend and finished the flags for the Color Guard (22 of them!).  I am so excited to be done with that project!  I also finished all the preparation for my Club Classes this week!  I am happy as a lark!  I will start showing them to you tomorrow.

I thought I’d show you a few of the Christmas cards that I got from some friends………the hand-stamped ones, that is!  Have a great day and stay warm!

First, from my dear “blogging friend” Jackie Wright.  We’ve never met in real life………some-day!!!!  Jackie used Patterned Pines Stamp Set and the trees were inked up with the Shimmer Paint mixed with re-inkers!  Lovely!!!!  So much prettier than the photo shows!

Next, a very creative star-shaped card from Erica……..and she also brought me a can of Coffee from Cafe d’ Monde!

Dee brought me this adorabe “Dasher” card when she came to pick up her order.  Along with the card, she brought me three 3-D items that were adorable.  I can’t wait to make them next year!  I am going to copy all three of them!

And look at this non-traditional color combination from my friend Mary Ann.  Love it!!!!

That’s all for now………..hope your Monday is fantastic!  It is my last day to sub for this maternity leave…….I am so excited to have more free time, but I have loved my co-workers!!!!  I will miss them!!!  I made 2 pans of “Heavenly Brownies” to take to school as a little “thank you”.  The best brownie recipe ever — kinda like a mixture of cake and brownie in one recipe!

Treats for My Secret Santa

Hello friends!  At school this week we have “Secret Santas”.  Those who wanted to participate drew names and we give little treats to our person each day this week.  At the end of the week we reveal our secret.  Well, as luck would have it, I drew a MAN teacher!  He is a great guy, and I’m thrilled to be his Secret Santa, but I was really wanting to give away some of my crafted stuff.  I somehow don’t think he’d be too excited with my hand-stamped or hand-sewn projects……..but I’m sneaking a little in here and there.   One of the things he wrote down on his info sheet was that he liked Snickers Candy Bars.  So, I found these little Nutcracker Snickers and re-packaged them.

I did not figure out the dimensions before I wrote this post…….sorry!  But it is a rectangle that has been scored twice.  I wish I would have shown you the side view, but the base is about 2″ wide.   So, basically it is a triangle shape when you view from the side.  I used a large cello bag to package up the candy and I used one large piece of packing tape rolled up in a circle to hold the candy in its place.  The paper I used is retired, but the stamps are Season of Joy (not retired!).

Have a blessed day!  I am frantically trying to finish up the week of school and get all the teacher gifts made.  Then I better find time to shop for my own family!  We do not have EVEN ONE present under the tree.  When will it all get done?  I am really not sure!!!!

Penguin Treats

Hello friends!  I have finished my marathon week of rehearsals and 4 performances in the Waco Christmas Celebration!  Can you hear me singing the Hallelujah Chorus?  Surely you can…….I know I am singing very loudly, as I am very thankful that some of my time is freed up.  However, I am full of mixed emotions because it is all over.  Isn’t that “let down” feeling funny?  You work so hard for so long and then it is all over!  If you aren’t from the area, you might want to know that this is a “family friendly” show featuring both secular and religious songs.  We have over 250 participating in singing, dancing, and acting.  This was the 10th Anniversary of Waco Christmas Celebration and the 6th year for my family.  It is amazing to look back over the years and see how they have “grown up” during WCC and it has been such a big part of our lives for 6 years.  They started as such small children and this year they were all in the “youth scenes”……….it is crazy!  It brought tears to my eyes (easy to do for me!) to think about all the solos sung, all the different costumes they’ve worn, and all the maturing they’ve done….life does move on!  But I don’t like them growing up not one bit!

So, of course I have hundreds of photos!  Can’t possibly go through them all right now, but I wanted to you know about the Penguins.  I have been a dancing and singing penguin for 3 years.  It has been so fun, and we’ve had the same group of 5 ladies until this year.  One of my best friends, Carrie, moved this past summer, so we had to replace her with a new penguin, Valerie!  She did a fabulous job, but we sure did miss Carrie.  Each year, we have enjoyed finding “penguin” gifts and giving them to one another at then end of the show………sometimes we all do it, sometimes just a few…….but we all laugh and have a great time!  I was really running low on time this year, and I didn’t find time to shop for the “perfect” gifts, but I got the girls some very soft fuzzy socks and made some really cute tags to put on the sack.

I used the Penguin image from the Animal Crackers Stamp Set.   It has words with it that say “Have an Ice Day”…….very cute words, but I didn’t really want them on my Christmas Gift, so I punched out the image with a 1 3/8” circle punch and cut off the words.  I sponged the edges with Basic Black Ink and then mounted it onto a Scalloped Circle Punch using Bashful Blue Ink.

The Scallop Tag Die is a Sizzix Die that I have had for many, many years.  It works perfect with the Big Shot and I use it to make almost all of my Christmas Tags.  It is roomy enough for large stamped images, words, To/From, etc………I love it!  But I can’t sell it to you — sorry!

So, if you want to see what the “real” penguins look like, here we are:

Me, Linda, Valerie, Carolyn, and Jill

Dancing on the stage, in that same order, so I am the first one on the left.

Here is the “lead singer”…….me! Guess I am good and waddling……is that how you spell that?  Oh, well, I will look it up before I add it to my resume!!!

Felt Flurries Frames

Ever have one of those moments when you thought you had a great idea, but then after you try it out, it turns out differently?  I had one of those moments last night.  I bought these inexpensive frames at Ikea last month, and I had this “grand” idea to put my Felt Flurries around the edges of the frame.  I thought it would look perfect!  Now, I will let you be the judge.  I can’t decide if I like it or not….maybe too much?  A little “overkill” on the snowflakes?  Maybe I was just frustrated with my lack of time to be creative……..or maybe just being too critical.  Who knows?  But I’d appreciate your comments if you think this is nice, or just plain tacky looking.

So, here is my second attempt.  I added just a few clusters of flurries in the corner, and balanced it out with some ribbons on the opposite corner.  What do you think of this one?  Definitely quicker, cheaper, and easier to do.  But it was NOT my original idea.  HMMMM….

So would you like to purchase these Felt Flurries? Although they were an item we sold LAST year, you can find them on our “Clearance Rack” online.  They are only $5.99 per package!!!

Club Project: Tic Tac Treat

This is another project that we made at club this week.  It is a pattern that I found a few years ago on Angie Juda’s blog.  It is always fun to make for the holidays…..just a little something to let friends and co-workers know you are thinking of them.  It also uses a very minimal amount of paper and goes together quickly!

I love the little poem that I found on SplitCoast Stampers called “Snowman Kisses”.  It adds a cute little rhyme to the inside of the treat!  You can also add a “to/from” to the inside  for a little personalization.

Outside cover:  4 5/8″ x 3″ (score at 2″ and 2 5/8″)

Front Piece:  1 7/8″ x 2 7/8″

Ribbon:  16″

Other Supplies:  Corner Rounder, Sticky Strip, Snail Adhesive, Black StazOn Pad, markers, pastels or blender pens for coloring.

I used the Hostess Set called “Snow Buddies” from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  It is absolutely adorable and definitely one of my favorites!!!  If you would like to earn this set for FREE, please contact me right away and I will tell you how to make it happen!

Have a great day and I look forward to bringing you another fun project in a day or two!

Gift Card Set and Gift Tag

Before I show you the Stampin’ Up! project, I’d like to let you know that I am beginning another long-term Substitute Teaching job on Tuesday.  I thought I had a couple more weeks, but I found out today that I am needed a little sooner.  Funny how babies don’t have a sense of time….    So, please be patient if I have to slow things down just a little bit.  I might only post 3 times a week, as opposed to every day.  I’m going to see how it goes, and try to keep up with my projects, but we’ll just have to see…   I will be teaching 6th grade English ( a little easier on me than the British Literature from last year!) but it will still require me to be gone from home, obviously, and I will be limited on the amount of  time that I can work on my Stampin’ Up! business.    I will have to do everything in the evening or on the weekends, and sometimes that is easier said than done.  Thanks for your prayers as I begin a “new journey”….more the merrier tag brown 1

Today’s project is a sample of some Christmas gifts I have been working on.  I am trying to make things up in advance and have them ready for teachers, special friends, babysitters, therapists, and other significant people that I really care about.  I want to give them a token of love at Christmas (and there are so many of them!!!) but unfortunately I am limited on time and resources……my list grows and grows!  So, here is a gift set of cards that I made using “Think Happy Thoughts” and the matching gift tag that I made using “The More the Merrier” Hostess set.   Here is the “secret”……..I purchased a box of 50 cards/envelopes from a local craft store for only $6.00…….they were originally $9.99 and I had a coupon.  There are 10 different sets of cards (5 for each design).  So, for $6.00 I am making 10 gifts from the heart!  I took each card design and matched up some Stampin’ Up! papers (2 colors) and used Very Vanilla for the stamped image (center circle).  There were 5 different stamp images in this stamp set………can you say PERFECT???  more the merrier tag brown 2

Then I designed a gift tag with similar (non-traditional) Christmas colors and I was so excited with how this all turned out.  I have also stamped about 40 more gift tags and I’m working on coloring them and having them ready for other gifts.  I hope you like this idea and might find it helpful for your growing list!more the merrier tag brown 3

Here is a peek at one of the other card designs and how it turned out with the 5 stamped images.  I might use a gift tag colored with Old Olive and Ruby Red on this one…….just to match it all up a little better.  Hopefully you get the idea….think happy thoughts gift card set

Delightful Decorations Card and Lots of Family Stuff…

Hello friends!  Lots of stuff going on around here………as usual!  And I want to show some photos from the weekend, but only after the Stampin’ Up! project……..

delighful decorations card 1

I finally found a little window of time to stamp with my new set “Delightful Decorations” and use some new DSP “Merry Moments”.  Oh, and the new Ornament  punch, too, from the Mini Catalog (page 25).  You know that I love a quick, easy card, so this fits into that category…….and I made this in about 5 minutes (maybe even less!).

I used Very Vanilla for the base of the card and added Chocolate Chip and Red Red accents.  I chose those colors based on the DSP.  I stamped one ornament with Read Red and the other one with Old Olive, adding a Rinestone brad to the center of the olive one.  The silver cording that I used is NOT the new cording, but it is some retired cording that we used to sell.  However, we do sell Gold and Silver Elastic Cording in the Mini Catalog on page 27 that would work exactly like the cording in this photo — I just haven’t order any of it yet……oops!  And you thought I owned EVERYTHING, right?

And now to the FUN STUFF…..

Thursday evening blew in a really major COLD FRONT right in time for the football game.  Lindsey cheered in the blistering wind for about 5 1/2 hours.  She didn’t even have a voice (from a week-long cold she’d had) and it was quite comical seeing her cheer and “mouth” all the words……..but here is the CUTEST thing ever……Charles brought the baby up to the game for a few minutes and we had to bundle her up in her new winter coat, hat, and gloves.  She didn’t quite know what to think.  She ended up coming in the Concession Stand with me for awhile — it was just way too cold for her.  Then daddy took her home to her warm, snuggly bed!

Friday night’s Football game was so exciting…….we played our biggest rival, and we WON!!!  It was such an awesome way to start a fun weekend.  Here are the pictures Sarah took on her camera.

Lindsey was at a party with friend, so she’s not in any of the photos 😦

Allyson and Zack came to Grammy’s house with us for dinner and then went to the Harvest Hoedown at church.  They won me a cake on their very first try!  Love it!

Charles and I took Sarah and the baby “trick or treating” in Grammy and PawPaw’s neighborhood after dinner.  Lots of fun!  Here’s a peek…..

One more thing………..Charles has been making great progress on our new fireplace!!!  Hopeful it will be done in time for the holidays…….I will be  ready to get rid of the dust and put up my holiday things!
