A Bittersweet Ending…

We had a wonderful weekend traveling to the AREA BAND CONTEST on Saturday.  However, it is a bittersweet ending.  We competed with 26  3A Bands on Saturday and we placed 8th in the “Top 10” Bands for the day.  We proceeded to the finals on Saturday evening, but we did not make the “Top 5” from these final performances.  We were sad that it had ended, but we were happy to know that we didn’t have to travel any more.  We have been gone the last 5 Saturdays and we are ready to stay home!  So, here are a few of the “final moments” and I promise that I won’t show you any more band photos………well, I will try to wait until next year, at least!

The very end of the show………notice the “smoke” from the train!

Yes, I know this photo looks like last weeks’ photo………but this is what she does best!  In reality, she also plays many other percussion instruments, too!

Lindsey is in the middle of this photo (somewhat between those 2 large tubas) — remember she is playing her “fake trumpet”!  However, it might not be her last time to march with the trumpet — I think the band director really wants her to learn to play an instrument that marches in time for next year………she shouldn’t have done such a good job filling in!!!!

I am setting a goal to post a new Stampin’ project every day this week!  And it might actually be a realistic goal this week!  I made another card using the “Season of Friendship” stamp set.  It uses Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, and Baja Breeze.   I didn’t use any fancy stuff here……but the little bird is cut out and popped up with Dimensionals.  Check back every day this week………..I am going to post more fun projects!

As I ponder this statement on this card, I am reminded of the many friendships that I have in life……..

special girl friends — college friends — church friends — neighborhood friends — friends from “back home” — senior adult friends — co-workers — relatives — other band parents — and the list goes on…

Can you take the time to reflect for just a few minutes today?  Can you think of special friends along the way that have made the journey easier for you?  Do you have friendships that will last forever?  I am so thankful for the Christian friends that God has placed in my life………..these are my forever friends and we will be friends forever in Heaven!  I may not see them every day here on earth, but we will rejoice once again and celebrate our friendship that lasts forever!

Happy Monday!  Enjoy it!

  1. Dawn,
Mom has been keeping me updated on your family. I have enjoyed your website and seeing the photos of your girls. Wow, they are beautiful and so big. I also noticed a familiar name on your blogroll…..Michelle Force. She and I were friends when I lived in Allen and our boys were in the same Cub Scout troop. Small world! Just wanted to say hi.
