Today is August 1st…in case you didn’t notice! And summer is “officially” over in our house. Lots of changes in store for the Derricks during the month of August — and change can be scary! That uncertain feeling of how it is all going to turn out…..yep, that’s the feeling in my tummy this morning. I begin my new job today. It will be the first time in 18 years that I have been employed full-time. I have been blessed to be a stay-at-home mother for all those years. God has been so good to provide for us over the years. I am going back to work to help pay for the college expenses that will be a part of our lives for the next 8-10 years. I have also been blessed with a job this year that will allow me some flexibility during some months, and a boss that I love dearly (along with my co-workers). I think it is a perfect fit, given my circumstances. However, it is all still a little scary…
I woke up this morning and found the most precious note from Allyson — a word of encouragement — and a gift! WOW! What a fun way to wake up! It was a box from James Avery and had a charm of an owl in it. I will wear it proudly and think of my daughter’s encouraging words all day long!
I still haven’t shown you all of the great gifts that I got from my roommates at Convention. I’ll try to finish up on these this week. Here is one of the things Danielle gave to me. A little notepad and pen set — sewn together with a zig-zag stitch on her sewing machine. This is an adorable idea that every can do — even if you aren’t a seamstress! I’ll be back tomorrow with samples for my next class that I made over the weekend. You will like them! Have a great day and think happy thoughts for me……please!
